Team Lacoste’s domination of Midlands will be tested severely this week as Zanu-PF national commissar Saviour Kasukuwere will visit the Midlands province on Thursday on a mission to deal will parallel structures set up by a rival Team Lacoste faction.
These structures run from grassroots to high office level in an effort to thwart the growing influence of G40 faction which is allegedly led by Grace Mugabe.
Kasukuwere was last week mandated by the Politburo to restore order in the restive province.
The directive follows chaos in the province that has seen provincial members holding parallel meetings.
Kasukuwere yesterday said: “We are descending on the Midlands province this coming Thursday.”
Last week, Zanu-PF spokesperson Cde Simon Khaya Moyo said the Politburo resolved that further investigations were needed on members who were accused of fuelling factionalism in the Midlands province.
“In the Midlands province, the cases which you are familiar with have not yet been concluded. As you are aware, there is confusion there and we cannot have two provincial executives,” he said.
The Midlands crises imaged following the expulsion of key players in the Lacoste formation who were believed to be pushing for Emmerson Mnangagwa presidency when Mugabe leaves office in the near future.
