Divorce War: General Chiwenga surrenders, to settle with Marry out of court

HARARE: Vice President Constantino Chiwenga and his wife Marry Mubaiwa-Chiwenga may eventually settle out of court their feud over access to the couple’s minor children, family home, vehicles and other possessions.

This comes after Marry decided to fight fire with fire leaking sensitive and damaging information to the courts about Chiwenga’s drug addiction, plans to be Zimbabwe’s next President and his clever use of family members to hide wealth from targeted sanctions.

In the wake of the fallout, the press has also been running stories about Chiwenga’s alleged relationships with an army colonel and Uncle Roland’s ex-wife.

Vice President Chiwenga recently locked his wife out of their Borrowdale home when she came out of remand prison on a host of charges he personally raised against her through the Anti Corruption Commission. She also found Chiwenga in custody of their minor children and has been denied access to them for the two weeks she has been released from prison.

She incidentally filed an urgent chamber application at the High Court seeking an order compelling the VP to allow her access to the home and children.

At the High Court hearing before judge, Justice Dube Banda, the parties indicated that they wanted the matter to be settled out of court.

The matter was postponed to Tuesday after both parties exchanged arguments and agreed that the matter should be settled and not argued on Tuesday.

“If we don’t reach an agreement on Monday, it means we continue with oral submissions on Tuesday,” Marry Chiwenga’s lawyer Taona Nyamakura told journalists.
