About Mugabe’s Gukurahundi threats on Mnangagwa and War Vets

President Robert Mugabe took the country back in time when he used the 1980s template to label peaceful opposition within ZanuPF as ‘ dissident activities,’ the same term used by his party at the time when thousands of people lost their lives in Matebeleland and Midlands.

The irony of it is that the threats are directed against people who are believed to have played a major role in Gukurahundi massacres, Zimbabwe war vets and Team  Lacoste faction members supposedly led by Emmerson D Mnangagwa.

“Dissident activities cannot be allowed; it ended in December 1987 when Cde Joshua Nkomo and I put our hands together and our hearts together to say never again shall we allow this to happen,” said Mugabe.

War vets belonging to different ZanuPF factions have made it clear that they want Mugabe out of government and the party ‘as soon as yesterday’ as they feel that his leadership style is quickly  and surely ‘pushing the country back to stone age’.

Mugabe will lead Zimbabwe up to 2023 if he wins 2018 elections.
