Daniel Arap Moi: Former Kenyan President dies at age 95

Former Kenyan President Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi has passed away at Nairobi Hospital early today, President Uhuru Kenyatta announced.

Moi became the east African country’s second head of state after succeeding Jomo Kenyatta in 1978. He was succeeded by Mwai Kibaki in 2002.

Uhuru Kenyatta announced the death on social media:

It is with profound sadness and sorrow that I announce the passing of a Great African Statesman, H.E Daniel Toroitich arap Moi, the second president of the Republic of Kenya.

The former president passed on at the Nairobi Hospital on the early morning of 4th February 2020, in the presence of his family.
