Covid19 woes continue to rear an ugly head on Zimbabwe after 18 more cases were recorded, leaving the struggling southern African country at 716 coronavirus infections, since the first case was recorded on March 20.
The cumulative number of Covid19 deaths recorded, during the same period, stand at eight.
Latest statistics from the Ministry of Health and Child Care indicate that 18 new infections- comprising of eight returnees from South Africa, six from neighbouring Botswana and one from Canada plus three local transmissions have since been recorded.
“As at July 5, 2020, Zimbabwe had 716 confirmed cases, including 181 recoveries and eight deaths.
These new cases include returnees from South Africa (eight), Botswana (six), Canada one and three local cases who are isolated. Of the 18, 16 were recorded in Matabeleland South, one from Bulawayo and the other from Harare,” partly reads the statement from the Ministry.
Since March 30, Zimbabwe has been on a national lockdown which has since been revised to a loosened Level 2.
