The City of Harare working with City Parking has introduced a self-service parking payment platform.
The platform called USSD Park Assist allows motorists to pay or top up parking fees using their mobile phones.
The system is said to be convenient as there wouldn’t be any need for motorists to search for parking marshalls.
Apparently, the Minister of Local Government July Moyo has initiated a probe team to look into the motor clamping company ‘City Parking’ operations.
The probe team is expected to establish parking fees, average daily collections, shareholding structures between City of Harare and City Parking, among others things.
Moyo says City of Harare will bear the cost of the investigations which should be completed in the course of ten working days.
At the end of the exercise, the five member team, is expected to furnish minister Moyo with a report on its findings.
