The City of Bulawayo says Zimdollar charges for council services will be “translated to the American dollar value” on the date of billing owing to exchange rate volatility.
The city says changes in the exchange rate, and rising costs in fuel & water treatment have rendered current council charges for services unsustainable, hence the move to adopt the US dollar value.
In a statement to residents, Bulawayo City has encouraged them to contact council revenue offices for calculations.
Apparently, Zimbabwe is facing a serious economic crisis rendering its local currency ‘useless.’
Economic analysts are calling on the country’s monetary authorities to fully dollarise.
And President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa has warned that his administration is working on moralmodal to stop price hikes.
He blamed economic sabotaures saying his government will not stand akimbo and watch.
