Chipinge aspiring councillor in court for calling ZANU PF and its supporters thieves

In Chipinge, 42 year-old Raina Madenyika, an aspiring Councillor is appearing in court today after she was arrested & charged with criminal insult for allegedly labelling Pedzisai Mudende, a ZANU PF party supporter & the ruling party as thieves.

He allegedly made these remarks during an altercation on 16 February.

He is Madenyika is represented by Langton Mhungu of the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights.

Meanwhile, the ruling party stands accused of corruption, despite its leader President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s claims that he would be fighting graft at all levels.

Zimbabwe’s economy is on its knees due to unchecked corruption, critics say, while the government is blaming it on sanctions.
