Chinhoyi University takes blame on death of 2nd year student

Chinhoyi University of Technology has issued a statement taking blame on the death of a second year student who was crushed by the institution’s bus while jostling to get into a bus.

The university’s public relations department has yesterday morning issued a press statement.

“It is with a deep sense of sadness and grief that Chinhoyi University of Technology has to announce the untimely death of our level 2.1 Accounting student , Munyaradzi Africa Sakurangaranga, a hard-working and renowned peer educator early morning of Thursday 9 May 2019.

“The tragic death was a result of an accident involving our University bus on campus as students jostled to get on the bus to go home.

“The University takes full responsibility and is deeply seized with the issue and has fully engaged his parents who have fully accepted the circumstances of the accident and met the University management and our driver,a gesture that we didn’t expect at this moment of grief and mourning.

“The University will keep the Community and the media informed of the funeral arrangements and any other information periodically.

“We however appeal to our friends in the media to get credible information from the University”s official source, the Marketing and PR Office or it’s Director to avoid social media speculation and rumor in respect of our dear departed student and stalwart. Thank you for your patience.”
