Child hit with electric cable for watching TV

Gweru residents nearly jumped out of their skins with anger when a 26 year old man ruthlessly attacked his nephew with an electric code on the face, buttocks and all over the body for switching on television.

Brian Nasser who resides at Plot Number Two Flamboyant Consilla appeared before Magistrate Musaiona Shotgame facing allegations of child abuse.

Nasser was slapped with twelve months imprisonment of which six were suspended on condition of good behavior for five years.

Magistrate said that Nasser was exposing the child to unnecessary suffering.

Prosecuting Chipo Ncube told the court that Nasser assaulted Washington Ntuli who is a grade three pupil at Riverside Primary for switching on television in his absence.

Shocking revelations are that the culprit was taking advantage of the child since he is an orphan with nowhere else to stay.

It is reported that Washington’s grandmother Vuyiswa Ntuli found the child in agony when she returned from work and she filed a police report leading to the arrest of Nasser.

Dr. Munyaradzi Zidhakwa examined the child and he revealed that he had sustained severe injuries.
