Movement for Democratic Change Alliance (MDC) Alliance president Nelson Chamisa has visited Last Maengahama at home in Harare.
The activist was recently freed by the Supreme Court after spending 10 years in prison, 2 of which he spent while on remand for a murder crime he did not commit.
Maengahama and his co-accused Tungamirai Madzokere were arrested on allegations that they had killed a police officer, but the Supreme Court found them innocent and ordered their release.
Meanwhile, Chamisa praised Maengahama for his courage, faith and commitment to democracy.
The MDC Alliance leader said the party will do what it can to assist Maengahama and his family as they restart building their lives once again following a gross injustice.
He also told him he is free to consider a leadership post in the party.
Meanwhile, the party also says Chamisa met Madzokere.
“President @nelsonchamisa met Last Maengahama & Tungamirai Madzokere in Glen View this afternoon.
“They were persecuted for being MDC & convicted if a crime they did not commit.
“They lost 8 years of their life after ZANU PF weaponized the court system to punish them.”
