Chamisa blasts chaotic land reform

ZwNews Chief Correspondent

Movement for Democratic Change- Alliance presidential candidate Nelson Chamisa has expressed dismay over the chaotic land reform that was carried out by former president Robert Mugabe and his ZANU PF party around 2000.

Chamisa said the move have left Zimbabwe dogged with a complicated debt to deal with, that would not have been necessary had the issue been taken properly.

“The poor implementation of the land reform has left us saddled with a compensation obligation. Zimbabwe cannot credibly position itself as a safe investment destination without resolving this difficult issue.

“We will work with our development partners to find a solution,” he said.

The land reform was rushed when former president Robert Mugabe tried to appease war veterans by letting them occupy white owned farms without paying anything.

The move brought sour relations between Zimbabwe and its long time  international friends such as Britain.

The payment of compensation is believed to be one of the most pressing matter in Zimbabwe at the moment. The matter has been a talk of town, with little or no action on the ground due to a number of reasons.
