CCC Spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere
The country’s biggest opposition party Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) says it will soon announce its candidate selection process as party gears up for polls.
CCC spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere says the process will be transparent.
“Our candidate selection will be announced soon on our official platforms and those who want to participate in this process must tune in to our platforms.
“We are going to make sure that the process is transparent and widely publicized so everybody can look forward to that,” she says.
Mahere adds that those interested in standing in as councillors and parliamentarian are welcome.
“Those who have interest in standing as Councilors or MPs are most welcome to participate in this community candidate selection process.
“We want to ensure that in all streets, villages and communities, citizens have a voice in deciding who represent them in the upcoming government,” she says.
She went on: “We’ve revolutionized our candidate selection process. Communities are going to select their own candidates by consensus. We are going to give communities a voice in deciding who their representatives are.
This is a truly democratic system that gives power back to communities whose voices have not been heard so strongly on the past.”
Apparently, CCC leader Nelson Chamisa has been under attack from ZANU PF members for not holding primary elections.
Chamisa has been keeping his cards close to his chest for fear of infiltration.
