Hardlife Zvirekwi resumes training

THERE was jubilation at Caps United’s training session on Thursday morning as injured skipper Hardlife Zvirekwi went through the paces at the Zifa Village.

Zvirekwi, whose left wrist was amputated following a horrific accident last month, reported for training for the first time since the misfortune.

He ran 10 laps before fitness trainer Majaha Ndlovu took him through some drills.

“I will be back sooner than expected, I am determined,” declared Zvirekwi, who is set to have an artificial wrist.

Caps United coach Lloyd Chitembwe says the return of Zvirekwi is a morale booster for the players ahead of Sunday’s Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match against Herentals.

“He (Zvirekwi) is just working on regaining fitness first but it’s a relief to all of us because we know what Hardlife brings to the team both on and off the pitch,” said Chitembwe.

“The doctors will advise us on when he can begin full training. It’s a great feeling to have him here, Zvirekwi has always been a part the team.

“Just to have him back is a relief to all of us.”

Caps United play Herentals at the National Sports on Sunday hoping to build on last weekend’s victory over Black Rhinos at the same venue.

Makepekepe have seven points from the first four matches of the 2018 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.
