Cabinet approves Report of African Charter on Children’s Rights, as gvt establish Victim Friendly Courts at Police Stations

Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Monica Mutsvangwa says the First Period Report of the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child, was approved by Cabinet.

The Report outlines the legislative, administrative, judicial and other measures adopted by the country, Laws-Children’s Amendment Bill, Guardianship of Minors Act, Child Justice Bill, Marriages Bill and Education Act are being aligned to the Constitution.

Speaking during post cabinet briefing, Mutsvangwa said the establishment of the Victim Friendly Court & Victim Friendly Unit within the Zimbabwe Republic Police are administrative measures implemented by Government in regard to protecting Rights of Children.

Meanwhile, Cabinet has received and approved the Zimbabwe National Broadband Plan (2023- 2030) whose vision is “An all-inclusive Digital Society powered by Premier Innovations by 2030”.

Minister of Information Mutsvangwa said broadband is the bedrock of the 4th Industrial Revolution.

The benefits of Broadband include: enhancement of global competitiveness, job
creation,increased productivity, improved national security and enhanced performance in education,agriculture, health and governance.
