Vice President Constantino Chiwenga’s ex-wife Marry Mubaiwa has been handed a wholly suspended 12-month prison sentence.
This is after she was convicted of fraudulently attempting to upgrade their marriage from a customary union to a civil marriage.
The magistrate, handing down the ruling cited poor health and that she is first offender.
She escaped a custodial sentence after the magistrate ruled she was not in good health to go to jail and was given an option to pay ZW$60 000 or go to jail for six months.
