Boastful Man Bashes Mom For Sleeping Out

‘Abomination’ is the suitable word to describe the bizarre case of a 46-year-old man from Chirumanzu who viciously assaulted his own mother for not sleeping at home.

B-Metro, reports that Jacob Chinovatira appeared before Mvuma magistrate Tafadzwa Mhlanga facing one count of assaulting his 62-year-old mother Ronica Chishanu. Jacob claimed that he felt disrespected by his mother’s conduct and the way she responded to his query. Said Jacob,

Your worship, l felt disrespected and l did not like the way she responded to me after l asked her where she was. I am the head of our homestead and as such, she must show me some respect.

The court heard that Jacob attacked his mother, Ronica Chishanu (62), with fists and kicked her as she lay on the ground after she had told him that he was not her husband to be inquiring about her activities. Ironically, Ronica had spent the night at her other son’s homestead before returning home in the morning.

Magistrate Mhlanga did not take kindly to Jacob’s conduct and sentenced him to 10 months in prison. In handing out his ruling, Mhlanga said,

You are supposed to protect your mother at all times, but you chose to assault her, which is not only a violation of her rights but also unacceptable in our culture.
