Better let makorokozas benefit from mineral resources than foreigners who are taking everything- Mliswa

Norton Independent Member of Parliament Temba Mliswa says Boterekwa Chinese Gold Mining Services has been damaging the environment as the expense of local inhabitants.

“Welcome to Boterekwa Chinese Gold Mining Services! The desolation that is going on here in Shurugwi is painful when one considers that the locals are not benefitting much,” he says.

Mliswa adds that it would have been better if the local makorokoza had been allowed to mine and locals benefitted.

He says these foreigners who mining in the country are simply commercial makorokoza who are not adding anything to the local community.

“With whole forests undergoing such destruction the local community should be benefitting as this is their wealth. Even the forests should have plans to be reforested if we are to leave future generations anything,” he adds.
