Before 2021 elections, PF tried to force us to hold Congress, but we denied- Zambia’s ruling party tells Chamisa

CCC leader Nelson Chamisa and Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema

The ruling party in Zambia, United Party for National Development (UPND) says the then ruling party Patriotic Front (PF) members wanted to force their way into the then main opposition party by urging it to go for Congress before the elections, but failed.

UPND Information and Publicity Secretary Joseph Kalimbwe said this while commenting on how ZANU PF is blasting Citizens Coalition for Change CCC president Nelson Chamisa for not going to Congress ahead of the 2023 polls.

Apparently, commenting on the matter, Kalimbwe said:

“Prior to our 2021 elections, PF members wanted to force their way into our UPND and demand that a Congress be held in order that we have a different Presidential candidate & not our leader.

“Theirs was to see us divided through a congress. Let no outsider divide your home!!!”

Kalimbwe urged the Chamisa led party to be masters of its own destiny.

Meanwhile, Kalimbwe has called for all Africans to coexist in the true sense of PanAfricanism.

“As a citizen of Africa, I am free to visit any African capital from our own capital, Lusaka. This includes visiting Harare, no one must intimidate us !!!

“The UPND as a ruling party has never deported or chased other Africans from our country. Stop saying we deported Tendai Biti & Mmusi Maimane.

“They supported our struggle in the opposition & were deported by Edgar Lungu & his corrupt former ruling party not us. We love Africans !!”
