In a scenario that fits well into an action movie episode, a fourteen-member gang of machete-wielding assailants besieged at a Manyame Park residence in Harare where they stole US$40 000 in hard currency and a Honda Fit vehicle, amongst other items.
Police authorities say there was a single woman amongst the fourteen robbers who reportedly blasted the complainant’s bedroom using dynamite, after having disempowered a security guard manning the residence.
Apart from machetes, the assailants also had knobkerries and hammers, according to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP).
“The ZRP is investigating a robbery case which occurred in Chitungwiza on 29/03/22, where 14 unknown men and a woman, who where armed with machetes, knobkerries and hammers pounced at a house in Manyame Park and assaulted the security guard who was on duty at the premises”, police said on social media.
Added the ZRP:
“The suspects blasted the complainant’s bedroom window with dynamite and attacked the complainant who was in bed with his wife and demanded cash. They stole US$40000, ZWL$20000, six cellphones, a pistol with an empty magazine, car keys for an Isuzu KB300 & a Honda Fit vehicle”.
