Baby’s body dumped at lover’s doorstep

Emotions are still high in Mtapa Suburb, Gweru after a jilted woman recently dumped her two weeks old baby at the doorstep of an alleged lover who had refused to marry her.

Shocking revelations are that Nkobizitha Muchabigwa (20) dumped her two weeks old child at Clever Ncube’s house last week after the latter negated marrying her.

Ncube’s neighbour only identified as Baba Tino said the baby died a few hours after being dumped at the doorstep.

“We saw the woman dumping the baby, but we unknowingly thought she was going to use the outside toilet since the doors were locked.

“Surprisingly hours later we suspected foul play and visited the scene only to realize that there was a dead child  and we immediately notified Ncube who then made a police report,” he said.

The source added that the ruthless mother Muchabigwa left her national identity card on the door before vanishing into thin air.

Contacted for a comment Ncube confirmed having been in love with the woman but turned her proposal to get married as he is already a family man.

“I had promised to take care of the child not to marry her as l have another wife who resides in the rural areas. I was taken aback when l received a telephone call from my neighbour while at work informing that there was a dumped baby at my door step.

“Upon arrival l noticed that my son had passed on,” said Ncube.

Midlands acting police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Ethel Mukwende confirmed the incident.

Ass Insp Mukwende said Police are now on a manhunt for Muchabigwa who is still at large.
