President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa will today preside over the burial of the late Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Harare Metropolitan Province, Senator Oliver Mandishonha Chidawu.
He passed away on 19 July 2022, from cardiac arrest.
Chidawu was appointed Deputy Mayor for the City of Harare in 1983 & served in that position upto October 1984.
On 15 October 1984, he was elected Mayor of Harare and served in that capacity until July 1985.
He was recorded then as the youngest Mayor of Harare to serve at the age of 29.
An engineer by trade, Chidawu was believed to be Mnangagwa’s frontman when it comes to business, he founded the Kuchi Group of Companies, presided over the African Banking Corporation of Zimbabwe, and served as non-executive chairman of the Manders Group.
