In a deeply saddening turn of events, beloved Afro-Jazz icon Bob Nyabinde finds himself in critical condition, currently receiving urgent medical care at an undisclosed facility in the capital city.
Nyabinde, who has been bravely battling diabetes, suffered a severe setback when he collapsed over the weekend, injuring his hip in the process.
However, amidst this grim situation, a glimmer of hope and compassion emerged, showcasing the best of human kindness.
Prominent event organizers, Partson “Chipaz” Chimbodza and Josh Hozheri orchestrated a touching initiative.
They rallied fellow members of the entertainment industry and organized a fundraising event at Sherwood Golf Club in Mabelreign on Sunday.
Ahead of the event, Nyabinde’s family, in collaboration with the organizers, ensured his admission to a local hospital for immediate medical attention.
Unfortunately, due to his condition, Nyabinde couldn’t attend the fundraising show, where a remarkable sum of nearly US$4000 was raised that very night.
Renowned dub poet Albert Nyathi and the legendary Baba Machanic Manyeruke were among the guest speakers at this event.
Promoters and friends managed to raise US$2000 cash, while another US$2000 came through pledges.
The collective effort of promoters and friends resulted in the collection of US$2000 in cash, complemented by another US$2000 in pledges.
Providing an update on Nyabinde’s health, Josh Hozheri expressed deep concern, stating that the situation is dire.
He went on to explain that they have decided to postpone the launch of Nyabinde’s book, written by Munyaradzi Huni, until the musician has sufficiently recovered. Hozheri earnestly urged Nyabinde’s family and supporters to join in prayer, hoping for divine intervention.
“I saw him on Sunday and the situation was bad. We have come up with this idea to mobilise resources and save him. We wanted to launch his book, which was written by Munyaradzi Huni, and we hope to do so once he is discharged.
We are praying for good news to ensure that he recovers on time. We urge the family to unite and leave everything to God,” he said.
