39-year-old regime borrowing dogs…where are we going ?

As Zimbabwe continues wallow to in the ghettos of modern civilization, the 39-year old nation recently borrowed sniffer dogs from neighboring South Africa to find bodies of cyclone Idai victims.

The borrowing of sniffer dogs from South Africa is enough evidence that Zimbabwe lacks the capacity to respond to disasters of greater intensity like Cyclone Idai.

The Minister of Local Government July Moyo has indirectly admitted that the Zimbabwean government is incompetent and ill-prepared:

“We are now educated that sniffer dogs can sniff for gold, can sniff for mbanje or other drugs but there are specially trained ones which can sniff for dead bodies and those ones we generally don’t have them in Zimbabwe.

“Therefore we are getting assistance from our neighbour, South Africa.”

We are now 39 years into independence and government tells us they do not have sniffer dogs specially trained to sniff out human bodies; where are we going ? what else do we lack ? we are a disaster waiting to happen.

The South African sniffer dogs only arrived on Tuesday after that country’s ambassador to Zimbabwe sent an SOS. While we thank the South African government for sending the sniffer dogs to help Zimbabwe out, we also should be ashamed of ourselves as a nation….dailynews
