President ED Mnangagwa has granted amnesty to 3000 inmates.
The move is aimed at decongesting the country’s prisons which currently exceed their carrying capacity.
Those qualifying are:
-female prisoners irrespective of offenses committed save for those sentenced to death.
-juveniles below 18
-those sentenced to 36 months & below.
-All terminally ill
-saving terms at the Open Prison.
Sixty years & above & those who had saved a third of their sentence by March 19th 2018
All serving prison sentence for Stock theft.
Sentenced to Life in prison.
All those who have been on the death roll for 10 years & above.
All disabled prisoners.
