Two juvenile brothers from Impali Primary School allegedly drowned while they were playing in a stream near Impale flats, Shurugwi.
Robin (5) and Charles Guruvete (7) from Impali flats Shurugwi, drowned in a stream near impale flats at around 4PM on Tuesday.
Robin was in grade 2 and Charles in ECD class.
Shurugwi Town Council Chairperson Mr Tsungai Makore confirmed the incident which occurred on Tuesday around 4 PM.
Makore said that when the mother of the two brothers came for help it was too late.
“We received a sudden death report of two brothers who were playing in a stream in Impali area. It is alleged that the two brothers are also from Impali area where their father is an employee of Unki-Mine,” he said.
Makore said that the two brothers were playing near a stream which is in the same area they reside in.
When a neighbour from the same area saw that the two brothers were about to drown, he ran to their mother for help.
It is when their mother reached the scene that she looked for help but it was too late for the two brothers had already drowned.
Midlands Provincial Education Director, Mrs Agnes Gudo, could not comment on the sudden death incident since she was in Gokwe.
