President Emmerson Mnangagwa has declared two days of national mourning this coming Saturday the 23rd and Sunday the 24th after the worst ever weather related disaster and flooding that has so far left 139 people dead, hundreds others missing and thousands displaced, with the death toll expected to reach several thousands.
The President revealed that government has set up a 19-point plan to mitigate the impact of the disaster in the affected communities.
The measures include intensifying the search for those still missing, recovery of bodies and the provision of decent burials to the deceased.
He said government will also ensure food relief, free medical services, temporary shelter and clean water supplies.
