For the past 28 months, pro-democracy campaigner Pride Mkono has been on remand answering to charges of subverting constitutional government, and his application refusing further remand has been thrown out by the court.
Harare Magistrate Tafadzwa Miti dismissed his application for refusal of further remand & gave the State one last chance to put its house in order.
Magistrate Miti said the State could not complete its investigations on time as it was affected by national lockdowns even though Mkono was arrested in August 2019.
Mkono is accused of plotting to overthrow President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s government and represented by the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights.
