120 tonnes of command maize burned in Mubaira

An estimated 120 tonnes of maize has reportedly been burnt at Burnbank Farm near Mubaira.

The incident was a result of a veld fire, according to farm owner Alderman Audrey Hativagone.

She told the ZBC News that the burnt maize was heaped, and was  awaiting shelling.

The maize was harvested from a 40-hectare piece of land under the command agriculture project.

Hativagone said she is yet to assess the amount of maize burnt in the fields but confirmed the fields were also affected. zbc
