1.7 metres mbanje plant found at Dhama’s house

SUSPECTED Mbare drug lord, Simbarashe Chanachimwe, a.k.a Dhama, appeared in court yesterday on charges of unlawful drug possession.

He was freed on $50 000 bail and is expected back in court on March 20 for trial.

In her ruling, magistrate Rangarirai Gakanje ordered Dhama to report once every Friday at St Mary’s Police Station and to continue residing at his given address.

The 26 sachets of mbanje and a plant measuring 1.7 metres are being held as exhibits.

The music promoter was found in possession of the drugs after his Matapi flat in Mbare was raided by police earlier this week.

Dhama’s arrest coincides with the ongoing police operation targeting drug dealers and peddlers, who have become a menace countrywide.

To date, more than 2 500 suspects have appeared in court on drug-related charges.
